Transfers, vacancies and mergers

Ok

Our office is taking in another local office.

Theirs is smaller than ours

We are both having revision but theirs is done first

After their jobs have been picked they have 4 vacancies

They are due in our office in a month.

Their acting Dom has promised 3 transferrees from an office 30 miles away these jobs

All full time jobs by the way!

All permanent and also trying to transfer to them a lad who's been with is for 3 months

Then when they all come to our office they will have no vacancies


Our lot have gone berserk

There are people who have 8 years seniority who won't get a pick yet these guys are gonna get duties with transfers

Surely any vacancies should be advertised in our office first before going to transfer list?

What do I do about this dom making promises

As a rule down my way at least,2 offices in one building,usually the 2 don't get along for whatever reason,one office says to the other,what we do has got f**k all to do with you,and so on.
Not sure the official line though.

Probably narrowing down my anonymity here but f**k it...

I work in 'a building' with 2 offices in.
2 budgets
2 reps
2 this and that ect

What they do i don't give a f**k about and vice versa.


Crux of it is,what 'that' other office does is feck all to do with you and your office.
Although rule of thumb seems to be that one office will get away with murder while the other one gets shat on.

Divide and conquer,just put 2 offices together in one building.

They haven't moved to your office yet so it has nothing to do with you. If staff in your office want the jobs in the other office then they can transfer there and then move back with the other staff in a months time. Of cause the logical thing would be to wait until they move but then when has logic ever been applied in RM.

As for the two offices merging into the same building and how they are managed it will vary between areas and offices but in our area all the offices where this has happened have become one office with one DOM, rep etc. From RMs point of view it does seem odd to continue with separate management and budgets etc as surely this reduces the savings from merging offices?

I appreciate your grief but look at it the other way,say they weren't moving in with you,the DOM would still be getting the transferees in,what would you do,have a go at him cause a couple of your boys wanted the jobs.

What office A does has nothing to do with office B if they were 10 miles apart,why would it be different cause they are on the same shop floor.

Only thing you could do if you want to but i think it could be a lost cause is to go down the 'how long has so and so been on the transfer list' grievance.
But 'i'm guessing' your guys are not on the list and just fancy a FT job. Correct me if i'm wrong.

14.3 The process for resourcing full-time and part-time, non-specialist posts will comprise one of four options, in the following order, unless agreed locally to change this order:

Internal advertisement of the job within the currently recognised resourcing unit/s.
Deployment of existing surplus employees.
The acceptance of an existing employee from the wider resourcing area or another resourcing area who has previously had his/her name placed on the transfer list for that resourcing unit.
