Olympics suspend missort run

The missort run in my area was suspended during the Olympics due to the potential traffic problems caused by the Olympic lanes. Is it likely to be the case for the paralympics?

Ours stopped about 3 months ago. The reason being that with the later starts IPS had only just got started when the missort run was due to leave so it wasn't productive. Strange how things change.

still not that sure if they will cancel the missort run.during the olympics it was cancelled but during school holidays
london is dead anyway,i notice some areas now dont have a missort run due to starting times changing not a good idea.
to keep the walking staff waiting for the missorts will help in the dutie times,managers are already looking at
walking staff as they now dont have registered or tracked items if you say 10 items a day saves 30minutes.
to lose the missort run another hour.
a saving of hour 1.30 every day. we need to fill the duties not make savings for the future managers.

what's a missort run? I've never heard of one.

Once went to pick up a packet for myself from a London DO. I was in my uniform (called in on my way to work - not in a London postcode).

A manager said "are you here to do our missorts?"

So in your office staff are spending an hour a day doing nothing while waiting for the missort run to get in?

Haven't we got some fine hanging over us because of the missort run failures,i was under the impression that cancelling the missort run is a serious no no and should be flagged up to area.

While some of you cream yourselves so it seems on here when the run is cancelled cause you get out early....think about it.

RM won't get fined for not having a missort run. Fines would be based of failing to meet QoS figures such as % of 1c delivered next day. Of cause getting rid of a missort run may reduce this figure but not necessarly below the target if the area already has decent performance.

Most of the offices in London had the missort runs and the wave 2 walk sequencing suspended during the Olympcis. in addition most offices had a substantial amount of overtime to ensure the USO was maintained. It has to be said that the levels of disruption expected by the Olympics did not materialised and the reports are most members had a great 3 weeks and were very satisfied by the agreement especially as there were no absorption during these weeks. Royal Mail were less happy.

Less offices in London are effected by the Para Olympics , mainly East London and some offices in South East Londom. Again there will be suspension of missort runs and wave 2 in those offices and no absorption. However the traffic levels will be higher as a result of the start of the autumn pressure period.
