In the worst case they could stop your pay I suppose, or even start the process for "abandonment of duty". However, that is a nuclear approach, and extremely unlikely even if you have a Image of a Image

More likely to ask why you didn't try to keep contacting them until you were successful.

I was in the same situation once and I sent the Manager a Text Message, and contacted a mate who I knew was already in. On the first day of absence it always best to make as much effort as possible to contact them just to cover your own back. In the worst case, like if your bedridden, get someone else to call in.

Neighbour, or call family and get them to keep trying. If none of them are possible then you have to keep calling. Mind you at some point a decent manager would try to make contact with you anyway - but then there's the flaw

Don't forget to put your sick voice on though...you know the one which sounds like Deirdre Barlow down a manhole.
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.
