I really do think that's a silly line to trawl in order to try to justify the fact that full timers get around double the pay that part timers do for d2d. Technically, we don't get paid, but the supplement was essentially a replacement forthe payment we used to get, only dressed up in different terms. part timers get about half what we do for the same workload, that's the bottom line. It was low of RM/CWU to do this but hey, that's what everyone voted in, right?

Although i'm not a fan of how the delivery supplement was presented to the membership,what the level was set at or the pro-rata element i have to question this statement.
Given that the delivery supplement has nothing to do with D2D and it's only tenuous connection was that some of the money used was from the D2D "pot" how does someone who works 20hrs have the same workload as someone who works 40hrs?

If the fact that some of the money came from the D2D pot makes it a direct replacement for D2D payments then in my case the majority of my delivery supplement (£12.37 of it) actually came from my Early Shift Allowance "pot" and the only D2D "payment" i get is about £9 so the bottom line is i get less "D2D money" than someone working half my hours.

I get £21.62/ 40 hours = 54p/hr.

If you divide the amount you get by the number of hours you work you will get the same result.
We all get 54p/hr delivery supplement. (unless your office is on a 39hr week)

If it was only to do with D2D, why would a p/t colleaue doing overtime receive a higher delivery supplement. They don't deliver any more D2D do they?

Which it is. And as I said full timers get around £22

Clash has got it spot on. Regardless of the pro and cons of the Business Transformation agreement. The agreement introduced a permanent addition to basic pay in the delivery supplement which is paid 52 weeks per year including when Indivduals are on annual leave and when they are on sick leave .


Your hourly rate is now your basic pensionable pay plus your unpensonable supplement which also goes up in line with pay rises. Therefore if part timers got an higher delivery suppllement they would be on an higher hourly rate then full timers.

The reality is few offices now start at 5 or 5:30 in the morning as the workplan has changed. Equally Royal Mail do not now pay for door to door in the same way they don't pay for you to delivery letters they pay for the contracted hours . Be that on a walk , a van , a reserve or an indoor job.

Maybe those secret talks between RM and the CWU are about consolidating the Delivery Supplement into basic pay which should mean the end of ll this moaning about payment for Door To Doors.
