Dog bite 2nd time

This week I was doing the driving duty on my walk due to my partner being on holiday and I delivered to a house with a Recorded and a person came to the door with a dog barking behind him.
When he opened the door the dog ran back through the house and into the back garden unbeknown to me and ran out the side gate .
He barked very aggressively and the owner pulled him in but I said to them their gate must be open.
I walked away to the next house and it went straight round and out the gate again when I was delivering the next house came running over and it bit me on the leg. I threw the bag at it and ran into the neighbours porch.
Needless to say the owner never shut the gate and didnt come out.
Thing is this dog was reported for biting my driver 4 months ago and my DOM has rang the police.

Tell your DOM, get him to make a decision as to whether you deliver there again (or the neighbours) but until then, if you hear the dog then don't deliver endorse it

if its the same dog then it has to be sorted out properly, either by nicking the owner or something much worse for the dog.

the dog could do it a third time with much worse results for the postie, paper boy or even a cub scout delivering a bob-a-job leaflet.

had a similar incident! i didn't wait for my dom to decide if i deliver there again. i had a parcel a couple of weeks later and i wrote out a 739 which said "refused to knock due to previous incident with dog" Dom pulled me and after i reminded him of incident i said i'm not knocking on that door unless i get reassurances it wont happen again. Dom sorted it but the point I'm making is that it was me who decided if i delivered there again not dom. he cant make you go if you feel unsafe and ultimately it is you who decides if it is safe to deliver. remember if you put yourself at risk, you are liable!

Get a claim in with the union for the dog bite , i find that the owners take more notice if they know you're not adversed to suing them than they do of the D.O.M / dog warden / police.

Been waiting for a claim of union solicitors for 10 months now, after i was bitten by a dog and jack s**t has happened, ive not heard a peep off them.Useless!

get in touch with your area health and safety rep and see whats happening. and never deliver to that house again.

Police are coming to the office tomorrow (tuesday) only 6 days after the event.
delivered a letter to the house of the dogbite on saturday from the DOM and the sarcastic owner said "WOW WE HAVE A LETTER DELIVERED"
If he dont give a sh1t he can pick his letters up from the office in future

Police came and interviewed two of us who have been bitten by this dog on 2 separate occasions and we both wrote statements and are leaving it with them.
After the 1st incident the DOM wrote them a letter but they did nothing.
Will keep you informed as they will notify us in 2 weeks to say whats going to happen.

Dont deliver to the entire road!!! Endorse letters,put the word about that people arnt getting their mail because of the idiot dog owner in their midst and wait for the fireworks

Woman was taken to court for the 2 offences at the start of this thread last week
Guess what ...........she pleads NOT GUILTY and the court case is in May .
I was rang by Police to say the 2 of us will have to attend.
How she can plead not guilty to two offences of an Alsatian dog running out into the street (not on her property) and biting two postmen on 2 different occasions is beyond me.
She even admitted to what happened when she was interviewed

I'm a animal lover and I've owned a dog for 14 years. But i you get bitten by a dog outside the owners property, i.e, in the street. The dog should be put down. End of. I've been bitten several times by dogs. The next time. I'm bringing the full force of the police and I want a prosecution.

I'm sick of dog owners not giving a crap about their dangerous animals.
