Is it just me.

I do a collection, my PDA is always kicking me off the route so I have to ad hoc. Two days ago this happened just after a scan which failed. I did not realise this until the end of the duty as I was ad hoc-ing and there was no menu.

My DOM monitors routes on his computer at home (honest). He phoned the supervisor ordering me to go out and rescan. I refused as it was close to quitting time and I would have overrun. I received a counselling letter with the threat of conduct code and possible dismissal if I refused again.

Today I carefully scanned everything, nothing left on menu. DOM phoned me telling me I had missed a box, I hadn't, but that's what showed up on his screen. So I went out to rescan, went overe time.

Please advise, are there any rules regarding this?

The PDAs are crap, I've had collections just drop off it after they've been done but as I said, they don't disappear unless I've done them.............they'll probably appear in a few days time when the system catches up.

Until them just ask to come off collections, too much trouble with them these days.

The only problem I really have with the PDAs is the batteries being crap. What do you mean by "kicking me off the route "?

Had my PDA for 9 months and faults are starting to happen daily now.
When you scan a RD or Special 2 or 3 times a day the PDA freezes when your about to ask them to sign and rather than get them to wait whilst I reboot it I end up signing for it after the reboot.
The batteries after about 6 months dont seem to hold their charge either

The menu disappears and the route indicator goes faint. I then have to ad hoc which in some respects is more positive because you can see your box number etc. on screen with successful next to it, make sense?

i have done collections many times i log into my pda scan my route and wait for connection to establish with coms. When my route comes up it NEVER and i repeat NEVER disappears even if the bloddy thing turns off and on so i don't know what your doing but it must be wrong.

The server proves you have scanned a bar code.

The server cannot prove that you haven't! The burden of proof is the management's.

I'm finding part way through the route when you do a PPI, the PDA either freezes solid or reverts to delivery mode. Invariably it has just transmitted the collection just before this happens. Is it a software glitch or is someone messing me around?

The PDA's that RM use are old, out of date, continually freeze up and crash, constantly require a reboot, don't hold their charges and are basically on the verge of being obsolete. They, RM, need to look at getting new kit and something that is more user friendly too. I know of firms that have approached RM about new PDA/Barcode machines and they were told, "No thanks what we have is good enough for our needs" despite the fact that what was on offer had a far better operating system etc, were easier to use and also bang up to date, unlike the ones RM currently use!

Somehow I think they don't care as they maybe thinking "why buy new gear when we are going to sell it all off, let the new owners deal with that issue"
