When the next attack on our terms and conditions comes as it surely will,HQ will inevitably blame the members for cutting the job up....it's very handy...too handy but like everything it only tells half the story.

If you make an agreement at top level that is wholly dependant on members adhering to certain working practices and then manage to get the employer to agree to making those working practices mandatory and then think you can wash your hands of the whole affair and leave good members to fight management on their own because it may be "unpopular" with certain members you are not only pathetic and weak but you have wasted a sizeable chunk of member's money negotiating a worthless agreement in the first place.

Was the use of the new delivery methods just a smokescreen to lengthen delivery spans beyond what the CWU had already stated was a maximum due to long term health and safety concerns?
If HQ has no intention of forcing Royal Mail to adhere to the mandatory use of delivery methods then the answer is probably yes.

Its the same old story ,ive never seen so many hypocrites in my life .The post office will tell you put your seat belts on at ALL TIMES ,you must only have a bundle of mail in front of van at all times and that has to be in a mail bag tied down to a seat belt ,your van has to be locked EVERYTIME YOU LEAVE YOUR VAN ,you musnt excelerate or brake to hard , you musnt take short cuts ,musnt bend over fences to reach next door so to save you walking ,read your mail while walking or driving need i go on . Yet who is it that managment pull into office for BEING SLOW yes you guessed it the posties who are doing all of these things ,and they leave the posties who break every one of these h/s rules .Why is that ,simple ,these posties are not taking breaks etc finishing early so not claiming overtime .While the postie who is doing his job PROPERLY AS INSTRUCTED BY ROYAL MAIL is being BULLIED BECAUSE the other guys can finish 1hr earlier and it must be your work rate !!!.In our office i would say 85% are not doing there job properly so its a real battle ,Yet these flyers are always moaning when MORE lapsing is put on ,me i just laugh put it down on my overtime When you add it all up every postie who doesnt take break ,run round etc are losing about £60 a week u couldnt make it up but the managers would like to thank everyone of you runners especially when collecting there bonus !! :arrrghhh

I have to admit that whilst HQ is an easy target there are the union branch offices Area and Div Reps who MUST start taking an active role in organising units in demanding that the agreement is adhered to - but they won't. I've said many times in the past that those who are paid to monitor these agreements are totally lacking in any moral fibre in taking on unit managers and HQ are totally lacking in any check and balance on what those who represent them at local level are up to. Even dingo says that there needs to be reorganisation but how do you get the snouts out of the trough.
