Rep positions.

Hello I'm a new health and safety rep in my office, just wondering who has more say on stuff in the office?
Obviously the main rep is at the top but then does it go deputy rep then health and safety, or is health and safety rep higher?
Also is deputy rep only there for when rep is off or is he entitled to do stuff when rep is there?

IR rep deals with IR issues.
H&S should be dealt with by H&S rep - given that that is what he is trained for.

I would give my right arm to have a H&S rep.

On both the H&S and IR Rep's stage one courses you will find our that the position of H&S has more weight.

In reality there is little difference as both positions are in place to protect the work force; (what worries me is where your question is going).

The brother CCR has summed the position for you up admirably, only thing that i would wish to add is that as a health and safety rep you do not encroatch on any Industrial Relations issues within your workplace and likewise you do not countenance any encroatchment on any health and safety issues by any other rep who is not trained to cover health and safety. It is not the case that there is any particular rep at the top or at least there shouldn't be, as you both have very different roles and functions to perform within your workplace. Oh and try and have a good working relationship with your CWU Area Health and Safety Rep.
