46 Cut offs in my office today

About 100 people in the canteen at the same time taking their break

No way they will have got them all covered

It is unlikely that an entire office will hold this line and to be honest it's a bit pointless.
Those who need the overtime should not be pressured into not doing it by those who don't need it.
The position of your office should be that no one is pressured into working over when they don't want to,no one works for free and all overtime is paid for.

Happened at our office. they brought in some right nasty managers. had a few sackings. Bullying was rife, people in the office daily. Now we're like a broken office. We're all working till 3 and 4pm completing wed/thurs/fri. Lapsing mon, tues, sat. And ot questioned. If you come back early mon or tues then they expect you to take more out which is fine, but then they shouldn't expect us to work pass our time. If you finish early and go home mon, they expect to take that time out of your ot rest of the week. Complete joke and it's not even busy yet.

Grievance required Postal. There is no agreement in Royal Mail for rolling over hours. If they reduce your overtime pay because you finished early on other days, they are in breach of section 13 of the Employment Act. It is for Royal Mail to provide sufficient work for you on any given day.

Mixture of van shares / single vans and a few bike duties still.

ALL VAN SHARE'S CUT OFF EVERYDAY, WITHOUT EXCEPTION.

8/10 bike duties cut off.

4/10 single van duties cut off. The reason for the low number here is is the bloody well go home (lucky buggers)

We are holding firm, we have a strong rep.

I am not working 3 hours a day more than i used to for the same money. NO FRIKIN WAY!!!!

Spot on, cut-off if your circumstances dictate and likewise take the OT if it suits you. But NO freebies, NO coming in early out of charity and always follow SSOW and use the correct tools for the job. Take your Meal Reliefs and work at a decent rate (in my opinion 75).

Document any undue pressure brought to bear by management as it may form the basis of a B&H or unfair dismissal case in the future. Always keep your local rep in the picture. Try to facilitate the seamless introduction of any revision so the the egg is firmly on the faces of the planners/DOMs/DSMs when things go wrong.

That is bang out of order, where is your rep in this ? did you have a walk out over the sackings ? some offices have done that and most of the time got the staff reisntated especially when it came with a threat of IT and a ballot for strike.

Your Office shouldn't have to put up with this, you can withdraw all goodwill including coming in your days off, phone in sick when you are stressed, don't put yourself out for these shysters.


I had it daily, I just smile and say come out on delivery with me , for some reason they never took up on that offer.

Bravo NW postie but this sounds like an office in the very weak North East. However most of the people in that office are money grabbing spineless twats that think no forward than one day. We have a couple of reps but they know so little it's pointless asking them for advice. Colleagues are calling other colleagues that stick up for themselves 'moaners' to the line manager. The atmosphere is atrocious.

Not using equipment, meal relief not used and free time given by earlier starts without pay and free lapsing because the deliveries are already to big without lapsing on top.

I gave up trying to tell them.
