losing overtime

hi all need some advice. i work in a small spdo (only 4 rounds) as day off cover but recently due to someone being off on long term sick i've been covering their round doing 5 or sometimes 6 days. i'm on annual leave this week and one of my colleagues has texted me today to say manager wants to take me off this round and put me back onto 4 day rota so he can put a new starter (travelling reserve) on this round! this will mean me losing a lot of overtime that i really dont want to lose. is their anything i can do? surely any overtime in our office should be available to the people in our office before other people get a crack at it?? any advice would be much appreciated thanks

if you didnt pick the duty theres nothing you can do

everyone is entitled to a wage at the end of the day, the new starter has not got any work at their home DO so has to work elsewhere, are you really saying that he should lose his job because you want the OT??

before you all have a go at me i'm not saying he shouldnt have a job i'm just pissed off that he is going to come to our office and get more hours than me! i've been doing this round for over 6 months and now its being given to someone else! only asked for a bit of advice not abuse

your right it isnt but now i'm down to 24 hours and the new bloke will get 30? but if thats the way it then so be it thanks

Has the person who has taken the 30 hour duty seniority over you? Something like that happened to me once i was at 35 hour contract when someone who had been at my office less time got put up to 40 hours before me. I asked our dom about it politely over a 3 month period, then got fed up and told him of my intention to bring it up at an industrial tribunal a week later I was at 40 hours. Just wondering if this person isn't senior to U its possible you can do the same. (guess it all depends if this person is a 24 hour contract doing overtime or been put up to 30 hours before you)

the person taking over the round i've been doing for the last 6 months is a new starter on a 20 hour contract (so i've been told) and it just annoys me that he will now be getting more hours than me. i dont want to do anyone down but you have to look after your own cos no one else will.

This new dude is being bought in to cover long term sickness,much like say an office gets a temp in to cover maternity leave ect.

There probably will be more changes in future which might get you more overtime/better duty. Be Patience.
