Hello, I'm thinking of setting up a cwu Facebook page for my office, as I know branch areas have Facebook pages but what are the rules on ones for offices and what kinda stuff can you put on there?

For the record Royal Mail have a policy for use of social network sites and last year 22 indivduals were dismissed for breaching this policy. Most Branch Facebook pages don't go over the top and are edited if any posters breach this. I know of two websites which are under Royal mail observation on Facebook. My own view is do not do it Facebook is not the ideal forum to air dirty washing and far to public.

Fish there is one and if I get an opportunity I will post its contents.obtaining an agreement on this is a differcult one as if there is an agreed breach then it is almost that the union agrees that an indivdual should be subject to a conduct code case.

I can understand that,i think in the case of Social Networks the main issue is that members are completely unaware of what the guidelines on acceptable behaviour actually are.
People use these sites as an extension to their social lives and may carry on a conversation that started at work but what might be acceptable "banter" between a small group of members on the shop floor may not be acceptable on a publicly accessible internet forum.
I think if an agreement is unlikely then certainly some kind of letter to members outlining the dangers and Royal Mail policy would be advisable.
