P+L is coming to our office shortly.
My walk and my mates walk ,looks to be put together, wich does make some sense, except for the sheer number of attended calls .
Packets in our area get far more than office average.
Whilst we beleive we could do our 2 walks together ,the packet Problem is a real issue already before we go with P+l.
Under P +L are packets taken into account.
The volume of packets on my walk many days now in the quietest period of the year is on par with early Dec Last year.
Managers suggest when P+l comes in we will be given a extra 45 min on our duties to do all packets, size of walk stays same ,but with tracked growing as well we cannot see how we will do it .
Is their a official Average for Attended calls on P+l ?
What should we be telling the PLanner concerning our 2 walks.?

Re: Atended calls P+L
As part of your revision process you should have done a packet sampling exercise where you counted the number of packets/RD/SD/Tracked items for each walk with the packet duty doing the same for a couple of weeks.
Georoute is set up with a default position of 20 attendance calls/500 delivery points.
If your packet sampling exercise has highlighted more attendance calls than this the planner should be building in extra time.
If they allow you time for 20 packets and you have 60 either you will require overtime each day to complete or 40 packets will fail and they will need to resource extra time from elsewhere.
I assume you will be having a repick - so it might not be your duty anyway.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

They use something called MIRA to add in extra time for more packets/specials etc than georoute gives the delivery. Its a manual intervention tool but not used properly by most planners or not even used at all.

Re: Atended calls P+L
Some of the rounds were changed for P/L so the parcel count was a waste of time .
The planner didnt take any notice and put it down as an average of 20 which was well below what the majority were getting .
This was highlighted but the planners had long gone.
That was a year ago.
If you are starting P/L soon dont forget to tell the planners about houses with lots of steps as they conveniently forgot about that as well

2 walks put together, add on an extra 45mins,add a trolley here and everywhere, add on all the other bits,is this how it's done now?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
