Delivering packet to neighbours

I was under the impression the customer was the one that sent the item and not the person receiving it.
If I paid for a parcel to be delivered I want it delivered to THAT address , not the junkie next door that needs some money for example.

I agree that opt out should be the default position and folk who want stuff delivered to their neighbours should opt in.

If it's anything like my delivery then the neighbours won't be in anyway!

I asked my DIM in WTL today that if this deliver to neighbour was going country wide " are you going to pay the overtime that will be created by 5 minute delivery times "
2 minutes to knock on the door and wait for no answer, walk to next door, two minutes to wait for door to answer and sign for item, walk back to original house and docket it. = 5 mins per leg packet / recorded delivery give or take a minute.

his answer was we will see what will happen on a daily basis lol

I will just docket them no matter what, if they ain't gonna pay the OT then I won't be knocking on other neighbours doors, simples. . .

What about Recorded delivery?
Surely recorded delivery is a record of delivery to the address on the parcel , not next door or the house opposite.
If this was implimented it would get rediculous because people would put notes on their doors saying "Postman can you deliver it to no 6 and if their not in try no 32"
But then after the p/l fiasco dont hold your breath

Rather be told which neighbours to deliver to than ending up delivering to one half of a major neighbourly feud by mistake ...

It's a Pandora's box of possible issues that should be avoided if at all possible in my humble opinion.

For RD,you put a symbol (can't remember if its an ! or *) either side of the name to show it was delivered to a neighbour

Never heard of that before, I was always told RD's had to be signed by a person at the property.
Otherwise if you deliver to another address its not a recorded delivery to the address from the customer.
You can just see it in a few years , you knock on one door and ask them to take the packets for the whole street

Then you can scrap the DOs, just have the MC drivers in 7.5 ton trucks dropping off the mail at the end of a street, then one of the residents could be something called a postie, and take the mail to each house, then gradually the number of drops will go down, they'll get a big building in the middle of town, with some vans, call it a DO and just have one drop for the town.....

I've said this for this for the last 5 year's . Have just been told have 13mins to do 114 delivery points,so it all adds at. 'and that's a rural.
