Sorry lads but you are wrong. Speaking to a shadow gaffer only days ago who was going back to deliveries as he was having to cover at least 1 walk every day, sometimes having to travel 15-20 miles to another office in our area.
He was leaving our office, to travel to other office, as blokes from our place were getting back having booked 3 hours+ docket.
Why the f@*k would i lie about it? Just because is doesn't happen in your office, doesn't mean it doesn't happen in mine.FFS.

Where you are wrong Jagger is the fact that a manager earns £30k plus a year against a postie £20k so he would have to be earning £10k a year in overtime just to break even with his managers pay. He would probably have to be doing in excess of 65 hours a week just to make up the 10k difference. What manager does 65 hours a week?

You can't just decide to go back on deliveries unless you're just an acting/pretend line manager.
An acting will make just under £100 a week more than an OPG but...will still be paid overtime for his trips to other offices so if he's jacking it...it's not down to the money it's because he can't hack being f****d about which i can understand but....what did he expect...endless coffee and facebook?

True, Fishtank, i am talking about acting managers. They may get paid overtime, but only for the the hours they work over and above their finish time.(14:15 at our office). While they see postmen finishing at 13:00-13:30 getting paid 3,4 or 5 hours docket or SA. It drives them, and most of us, mad. But that is the way it is.
Lincox, there are plenty of postmen in our area earning 30k+. I know of at least one who earns nearer 40k. We have had blokes delivering mail at 8 or 9 o'clock at night. Customers complaining that they have interrupted their dinner or woken up their kids. We have at least 10 in our office getting 20-30 hours SA a week, before they even start doing overtime. Guys getting 4-5 hours SA at the end of their duties and they finish 30 mins after the rest of us.
The management are happy to turn a blind eye if it means less hassle for them. Unfortunately the CWU reps (and their mates) are the biggest culprits.
Like i said before, just because it doesn't happen in your office, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

31 hours is the max amount of overtime you're allowed to do a week, so I've been told by a manager anyway.

Really? Is that above your contracted hours or above the 39 hour week?

I'm on an 8 hour contract, but have worked between 39 and 46 hours per week for the past few weeks. One week doing more than 50.
