Transferring when jobs are advertised

I am looking to transfer out of my office and I have noticed that one of the offices I'm interested in going to are now recruiting on the RM careers website (albeit 28 hours temporary contract - I'm 40 hour permanent). I have wrote to the DOM, saying about my intended interest to transfer. I was wondering, as an existing employee, would I take priority when applying to transfer over someone applying from new. Also, I take it that if I were to transfer, my contract would be still permanent

sorry to say but speaking from my experience and there was a lot of other factors in my favour and i had been waiting 3 yrs , and the jobs where fulltime being advertised in and i was not allowed to transfer and as usuall the union did not want to know at local area or branch level

What was their reasoning for not letting you transfer? What I failed to mention in my last post is that I do not mind going down to the 28 hours, as advertised in the job advert. It's staying on a permanent contract that is the priority for me

the answer i got was they where not recruiting permenant contracts only temporary even though i argued this ,

Great idea that maybe the union should set up a voluntery job transfer web site as transfers seem to be none existent

if the two people are both on 40 hour contracts, and both want to exchange offices

i cant see any problem

the doms prob worrying about his budget, sooner pay part time than full time wages

Sorry, get you now. I don't know if any employee wants to swap. I'm applying on the off-chance that the DOM would rather take someone on with experience of the job and can get any info about me from my current DOM, over someone that is new, needs training and who's background might not be as easy to check. But then thinking about it, my reasoning might sound too sensible

Same reasoning i used no training recruiting or uniform costs , and in my case there where people on mtsf to fill my position i would be leaving vacant , but still was not allowed and the union did not want to help at all

i moved nearer to my parent when she was ill 250 miles , went to see local DOM could i get a transfer bollox could i.
they dont care. i left the job then when a job came up 10 months later i applied and got it..................lost 14 years of service

Was there positions being advertised when you wanted to move?
