We have been doing park and loop for a while now and the majority of the postmen have not been using the trolleys provided. Me and my work colleague had had enough of the crap from management and decided to use the trolleys. Firstly it has been great, starting on time, taking our breaks, we have had to leave a loop in order to finish on time, but guess what? We are not knackered at the end of the day.
Our manager has decided he wants to test us (more fool him!), on a thursday, not a wednesday its too busy!! My question is , is there a set speed we have to go at with the trolley? The manager has decided i have to keep pace with him and his clipboard! Can registered mail be kept in the bag on the trolley? Or should that be delievered seperately? And where can i find in this forum the average day's work for park and loop, eg how many times have to know on a door with packets, average number of recorded and registered etc.

Dont forget no short cuts and dont sort your letters whilst walking.
Your DOM shouldnt be determining the speed, how do you know he not trying to speed you up

If he feels its too slow then swap for the clipboard and see how it goes for him

As above , dont forget D2D, always fasten pouch after taking anthing out, fill out advice cards as they should be,just follow there rules.And ask him what speed you should be walking and can he prove he is walking the correct speed I reckon he will get really fed up after half hour and feck off. Idid all that with a planner once, needless to say he had to finish all the loops off when i cut off and went back to the office. Dont forget you and the feckin trolly should be joined at the hip.

Also if you've been issued with one of those dog pegs don't forget to use it at all those letter boxes that's got a dog behind it, wastes a bit more time, only doing as RM tell us

park up the van and then get the pouches out and unlock the trolly and unfold it. make sure the pouches are loaded correct and only take the first bundle out the pouch. then walk at your normal pace and stop every house with the trolly in sight. if you have registered items drive and deliver them before your trolly loops as they are not to be left unattended at any time. make sure you close every gate and make sure all cards are filled out at the doorstep when your on delivery. each loop should take according to the new system plan approx 45-50 mins per loop depending on roads and paths etc. the computer simulation runs from the center of the road and runs at approx 2/3 mph which according to RM is our natural pace. think of that what you will.

dont forget to use drop kerbs with a trolley and dont bump them up and down normal kerbs

I have my specials just put in the bundles (if they fit) and often don't know they are there til I open the bundle.
Today for example, I got out the van, put the two bags on the trolley (by which time the van had zoomed away), open one bag and it was stuffed with specials and other packets. Also mixed in the bundles were the odd special letter. If I don't know its there, I can't break off to get it done by 1:00.
Is the van driver pulling fast one? As far as he's concerned, he just delivers what can't be forced into my bags.
