Packets handed back

Post by Anonymouse »

On Thursday I had 2 packets for the same address that were not huge but bulky enough to not fit in the bag with other mail/packets.
I asked the manager to get them on the van and he agreed and signed them over.

I came back after completing the walk to find the 2 packets back on my frame. The managers were away so i couldn't question it.
I mentioned it today because they wouldn't fit in the bag with todays mail either.
(The guy who signed them yesterday was off so the other one signed it and put it for the vans.)

Anyway, i went back today and they were on my frame again. How can they keep delaying the delivery of these? If i had done that i'd surely get done for wilfull delay?

Don't think i'll take them tomorrow even if there is space.

Hand them to your manager, point out the two signatures and let him/her solve the mystery of the packets that don't leave the office.
Not your problem and while i wouldn't expect you to explicitly drop your colleagues in it...i wouldn't expect you to take the rap for it either.
If drivers are going to do stupid things they should be ready for the consequences.

Had the same problem a few years ago when an oversized I handed to my manager was sitting at the bottom of my packet bag the next day. I couldn't point to his signature because he held onto it rather than sign and hand it back to me to place in the driver's packet york. I think he was avoiding upsetting the driver/docket king. :so there

If you have access to the managers office then place them on his desk and go home. His problem to sort the overload drivers.

What's all this about signing for packets? I resume they're not Specials or Tracked.

Some offices when there is a tear up,the manager would sign the packet to show the driver/walker that he has okayed for them to deliver it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

This happened to me once. The driver, who also took out my bags, left the packet in one of my drop boxes. I delivered it - which meant that I had to come back to the box for it once I had enough space in my pouch - but I told the driver next day that it wouldn't be happening again. Next time I'd leave the packet in the box and just notify my manager that it was there. Wouldn't be me getting done for wilful delay.

If i was your driver and you had an attitude like that , you would find yourself waiting ages for your bags each day . It cant be that much of a problem one packet FFS

Easy to explain- traffic busy , held up somewhere, RTA loads of reasons you could be held up. Sad thing is tho this company has turned its workers against each other , thats the real problem

Your right about the problem, but IF you really would do what you suggest then I am afraid you are not part of the solution.

From my viewpoint neither person came out of it well, but at least Elvis delivered it and that deserves recognition, but his response to the driver, and your theoretical response as a driver aren't exactly helping.

If the manager thinks it should be delivered by a walker, and the walker has to split his bags so be it - that's life, we all know the cut off procedure.
If the manager agrees with the walker, then he should endorse it as such. If the driver can't deliver that days work that's life - we all know the cut off procedure.

The sad thing isn't that the business is turning its workers against each other, the sad thing is that so many help them, and those that don't feel isolated and vulnerable.

Fair comments TBT, but fortunately we dont have this problem at my DO. It just gets my back up when you see the moans and threats you see on here, especially the " i will get him done for willful delay" comment and i think thats your workmate your trying to get sacked. Why cant they just sort out their problems between each other. In my DO ,yes i am a driver but was on the bikes for 10 years so i know the problems, if a postman asks me to take a "suspect" package i always will and they return the favours - easy
