Packet Volumes

Is it any wonder so many well known shops are struggling with sales on the highstreet.
Looking at the volume of packets we are handling now in our lightest period of year ,wich appears to be very nearly like peak last year.Our office is struggling to cope with such high volumes in a quiet period.

Not all packets are ebay or Amazon,so people who are buying all these packets would they at one time brought from high street shops.

If volumes at peak this year increase ,Management will have to do somethong different to previous years.

Rather deliver letter than packets...

Ten years ago ,at this time of year, I would of had a couple of packets, now I have a minimum of a couple of bags of packets (drop bags) plus several oversized packets from the town round I am packet buddy to

Same here in the north, packets have been through the roof. Mail also hasnt dropped to its usual quiet summer level and between the increased volumes in packets and the later start times (for us anyway) its a recipe for disaster. People i used to get in at 9am are not in when i get my first letter delivered at 11am.

These later start times means I bring back more than I've ever done.
Common sense should have dictated that the earlier we are out, the more we would actually be able to deliver.
But this is Royal Mail, and Royal Mail management are incapable of doing common sense things.

All their wonderful ideas are crap .. Later starts mean everyone has gone to work or school, we now head off smack into the rush hour .
They decide to get rid of bikes during very high oil prices.
They get rid of their own underground railway in one of the most congested cities in the world.
They get rid of the TPO and send more on the roads.
They sell off their buildings and land and rent it for extortionate amounts.
And don't start me about Consignia

i was told by a manager in our office that mail volumed hasn't dropped on that particular town, and when confronted that we shouldn't be lapsing everyday... he piped down and said "NO" you still have to lapse!!

Only one thing to do there.......Don't let managers like him, have their cake and eat it. Simple.
