Not quite the same thing, think there is a ruling about only working a max of 40hrs + 30 hrs O/T per week.
Seems to be the thing in our MC/DO.

I don't think there are any upper limits, unless you have refused to sign the opt out, or you are a professional driver.

There may be localy agreed limits but what legal status they would have ?????

I wouldn't have thought that there would be a limit on the amount of you can do
However it can't cause you to breach the working time regulations where a 48 hour working week is enforced (and this 48 hours does include overtime)

so for example as I work 25 hours a week I can't legally be allowed to do more than 23 hours OT a week

These times are averaged out over a number of weeks (17 I think) so you can do more some weeks and less other weeks.

you can opt out of this by writing a simple letter along the lines of

Dear Captain Pugwash
I agree that i may work more than an average of 48 hours a week, and if i change my mind i will give you xyz weeks/months notice

Someone in our office did this and when union found out he was made to pay it back.

You can do this if you're on a Wallington!
