Abused collection boxes

So it seems one of the collection boxes on my round is being targeted on regular occasions by youths putting 'stuff' into the box. I have found a used condom, bag of urine, a turd, cracked eggs and all sorts of various rubbish. Yesterday a women who lives opposite warned me that she saw "youths pouring a liquid into the box yesterday evening, it looked like wee or something, definitely not water". If it wasn't for the fact I had to scan the box yesterday, I probably wouldn't have even opened it. I'm wondering now what I can do about it? I'm tempted to leave it untouched unless I need to scan it and inform my DOM. But I know DOM will say there's nothing he can do, just get on with it. Has any one else had a similar problem?

My advice would be open it if you suspect anything in there that could be hazardous to you scan it and shut the box !
I would inform your manager and rep that you will be doing this and why before you go out.

Yeah I will be reporting it on Monday. I've had enough. I'm not quite sure what could be done about it though? I'd love to catch them in the act, just a shame the women who spotted them Friday evening didn't want to get involved and tell me who it was. I'm on a rural round, small village so there won't be many suspects!

If this is a persistent problem, surely the box can be sealed.
Yes some people will complain about having to travel further to post their mail, but it has to be better than their letters being covered in all kinds of sh*t, not to mention you own health and safety.

Mark the Collection as Turd AT Large.but that would probably confuse the managers as they would be all pointing the fingers at one another.
