I am continually being frustrated by not being kept informed by our local Rep about the ongoing dispute I am not Union bashing but both sides are as bad as each other I just feel as if we are mushrooms being fed occasionally by both sides with propaganda.
Whatever happened to the days when Unions use to pay their members strike pay? Are we still entitled to it? And if so why ain't we getting it when called upon by our Union to strike? My Rep seems to shy away when asked. Since we are all being called upon to strike for 4 days. Perhaps a "Real Rep" could let us know?
The one good thing about these forums is at least I am now seeing a bigger picture from other offices. Nice to met other "Pats".
HI i do understand how you feel about no info but dont blame your local rep they were as much in the dark as we were, just put yourself in their shoes for a minute and imagine 10,20,30 even 100s of posties constantly asking them every day whats going on ? when theyve heard nothing from head office either.

The local reps have had very little info at all untill the last few days, and when it was received it was put on the local Office Union Boards.

Can I suggest then that we all become mini deputy reps then??? I am NOT a rep but regularly hold discussions with staff reiterating what our reps are informing us on - this gives them the time to do their jobs. - the last round of strikes I helped type out a grievance for a colleague as our URep was swamped - typing out a statement was the least I could do - if you have any skills offer your services!!! get photo copies of branch letters to give out - our reps are human NOT super human it takes a lot of time and self sacrifice and its times like this current dispute that they really work there socks off ( well at our office they do!! ) give them all the support you can.
As for strike pay are you aving a larf m8 "Real Reps" spend there strike days on the picket lines with no pay like the rest of us, So when the strike comes around give them your support and turn up - it will not only boost moral but give your rep a boost that what they are doing is not in vain!
