Retained Firefighter

Hello, does anybody have any experience or somebody in their office who is a retained fighfighter?
Just wondering if royal mail is supported or is it that you have to be on call out of work hours?

There is a bit about retained firefighters int he special leave guidelines. Essentially you are expected to do it in your own time

When you sign up to be a retained firefighter you will be asked your availability, you usually need to be availible for approx 100hrs per week, so you can usually give your ours as outwith your working hours at rm, all down to when they need availability in your area, around here a lot of council workers who are supported by work so the have their availibility down as daylight hours so postie here easily just puts down night hours mainly and thus no work conflicts, has agreement with dom that if unable to attend work due to fire he will try and make up hours, emphasis on try and not forced, dom quite reasonable about it

Yes basically you can only do it when you aren't at work.
