Executing flawlessly on delivery revisions is so important that it features twice in the top five things we need to do as a business.

The operation needs to change to make us more competitive. Number one on our list of priorities looking ahead – and at number five too – is executing our delivery revisions flawlessly.

While delivery revisions have been completed in 448 delivery offices, we have to accelerate the pace at which we are carrying out the revisions.

Only by doing so can we reduce our cost structure and get access to the capital that the business desperately needs.

We have invested more than £2.2 billion into the transformation of the business, and will be investing more. We need to see a stronger return on investment in terms of reduced costs.

If we don’t take costs out, it will be very difficult for us as a business. It’s vital that we invest in new technology, new products, new businesses and new vehicles. This means the injection of more capital.

Develop a stronger relationship with our unions – The whole nature/approach of RM management needs to change and this cannot happen without a drains up change in the management structure. Less dictatorial, listening to peoples’ concerns/issues and working together as one team.

Respond strategically to end to end competition to ensure a level playing field – If the political will is there this is possible, IMO there has been too much political interference/manipulation which has harmed RM irreparably.

Get traction on our growth areas and… - RM has always been too slow to react, this is down to senior management and they need to take responsibility. How long have we known that packets are a growing stream and how long have we known that (surprise surprise) people use the internet to shop . Lack of forward thinking ... lack of vision.

How come the number of revisions seems to have gone down? I'm sure a few weeks ago they were claiming over 500, I saw it on the plasma screen while I was sat eating my sandwich

I suppose the same can be said for the Mail Centre structures only problem would be the army of planners it would create :)

Maybe they did realise they were counting revisions in the Republic of Ireland

If my memory is correct the figure currently being given ohn the big screens is for DM revisons as opposed to all revisons.

Two revisions minium is how I interpret BT2010 one sequenced one non sequenced.

Some D.Os have had a non sequenced but not had a DM or WS revision.

The way it was supposed to be was full DM revisions but RM only realised they didn't have enough planners to actually do them so they came out with the WS revision......which is really just a cop out on both sides, my office has been waiting on the revision to fix the problems since the last revision and all we ever get is 'we'll get it done soon' (and considering they want our full DM revision in by September and they haven't even start the 121's yet).
