Hi,i cover various walks and have come across this many times on walks that i cover.......pieces of paper with customers name on telling me to kill off mail at a particular address because they have moved....I don't mind the odd one but the walk i'm on at the moment has about 25 redirections and 20 pieces of paper telling me to kill off mail at 20 different addresses because the owner has moved...what do i do?At the moment i am ignoring them, posting to the correct address regardless of name,i feel like they are taking the piss...

Deliver as addressed unless it is one of those "Special Instruction" cards.

Ignore the instructions to kill off mail, it's not for you to judge which mail needs filtering out and killing off. One day you might kill off someone's mail who has moved back into their old home and then it's you who would be in trouble.

The only mail you are supposed to kill off is mail that has been endorsed by the customer and returned through the system.
Otherwise as Clash says it takes a special instruction from management.

ok, but there comes a time when smith moves away, fresh postie gets put on round. Mr jones has moved in, but hey ho he refers to orange cards.

The only mail you are supposed to kill off is mail that has been endorsed by the customer and returned through the system.

Agreed. Sometimes a redirection is for a few months while someone's temporarily away.

had this on my round when i first started doing it, had a card says "kill off all mail not smith" here i go's killing it off like a good boy, after a while thought it was strange they seem to be getting a lot just for one name and i am killing it off,
asked the guy and says "look mate got a card that says kill off mail not smith"
he says "that's right i went in and asked for it, sick of getting mail with right address but not mine"
"well mate you keep getting mail for white and i keep killing it"
"oh s**t!" says he "thats my sons girlfriends i forgot about the card at the office, have you sent much back?"


i don't agree with the special cards and think i should only be doing it when it comes back endorsed, he was ok about it though,

I've just had that on my walk, the missus leaves and sets up a redirect to her new boyfriends house, the redirect finishes and I was told, my a manager to kill off further mail as she has gone away and the redirect had not been renewed.

I couldn't be arsed with that as delivering it to the old address was easier and its then up to the old hubby what he wants to do with it (hopefully chuck it away so i dont get it back) Low and behold one week later they have made up and shes back. alls well that ends well.

I never look at silly cards. Redirections get done. D2d opt-outs only exist if they're on the sheet. Everything else is nothing to do with me.

your lucky you only get 25 redirections.
one walk in ours went over 100 last year
