Will the lay member of the Union have a vote on their future after this policy forum meeting ?

It probably depends on whether a resolution on pay is involved.
That would obviously have to be balloted but anything toxic may be bundled up with the job security agreement which would ensure a resounding endorsement anyway.
It would be better to have an individual vote on each issue but i can't see that happening,i could be wrong though.

Lay member? What on earth is a lay member? I always have heard that we (the lay members) are the union, have I been misinformed then?

I don't think there will be an individual vote regardless of pay and conditions. I get the feeling there will be fall back position to extend the BT 2010 agreement until privatisation arrives. As for new productivity schemes and the £100 and £200 bribe - which I don't think anyone has suggested will go beyond 2013.

In response to your posting dvbuk55, since when have the lay members been the Union, at the Annual Conference of the Union emergency propositions are submitted to the agenda and left for the delegates to vote on our behalf and looking at some of propositions carried many of the lay members would disagree with the decision taken.The Union is being run by the Postal Executive, however we do get the odd crumbs off the table to vote on, for instance industrial action because the Executive cannot by law make that decision on their own. It may be a good idea to embrace WCM because it will take the decision making away from the PEC and give it back to the members of Union !

Was there ever any doubt? Though if BT2010 was a minefield with months of chatter, actually years of chatter, with a so called agreement laid out with the i's dotted and the t's crossed, what can be made of WCM without any references at all - "best practice" can be anything and everything that RM would like to introduce.

Well I was about to volunteer for WCM last week and my Union rep said that the agreement has not been signed yet, don't tell me Dave has lost his bottle ??

Do you really think the PEC takes any notice of what direction the branches ask them to take, if you tell them to turn left, they turn right !

Am I going senile and missed the communication from the PEC about the results of the policy forum? Have we moved on? Is there any discussion going on at present? Has there been any agreement that we should know about before it's brought up at the WTL? Are we moving on WCM? Is the moon made of cheese? - No - well that's one question put to bed then.
