Report it to your line manager.

Agreed Guidelines
Introduction of Photo ID Building Access Cards
http://www.cwu-e4.co.uk/files/national2 ... 0cards.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

5. Lost and Malfunctioning Cards
It is recognised that there will be an initial cost to the business to introduce the new
photo ID cards/system therefore losses should be kept to a minimum and all employees
have a responsibility to achieve this aim.
• Royal Mail will meet the full costs of the initial issue of photo ID cards.
• If a card subsequently malfunctions for any reason then this will be replaced at no
cost to the employee.
• If an employee looses :left: their card this will also normally be replaced by the business
at no cost to the employee but the business may informally counsel an employee on
the need to keep replacement cards secure.

• Where there is a delay in issuing the individual’s replacement card Royal Mail will
have an emergency access card for the employee to use.

Been with RM just over 12 yrs. Only ever been issued with a name badge which i never wore( i already knew my name). Never had any sort of id/photo id card. Never been asked to produce one even when on collections from Post Offices or when i go to the MC on missort runs.

I didn't know they expired. Maybe that's a new tactic by RM, your ID has expired, therefore you don't exist and so we'll stop paying you and employ part timers to take your place. :Very Happy

years ago they used to have a reward to the finder if you handed the badge back,i think it may
have been engraved on the back of the badge that whoever found the badge could claim the money.
there are few that still ware them in north london the old red badge with our numbers still on, the phg
had the red and blue but dont see them now.
does any other areas wear the old badges still.

5 years without being issued one, even though I had my picture taken on my first week. Every year management asks who hasn't got one.
I've never been challenged to show ID out on delivery (never mind in the office), but there's been a few times when conmen have got into sheltered housing complexes and I feel I should have something to prove who I am when knocking on doors.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

My ID has also expired. Dispite repeatedly telling management that my ID badge has expired, I haven't had a valid one for the past two years.

I have the same issue with a padlock for a mail Dropbox. It has been without a lock for as long as I can remember. Told managers repeatedly that it needs a lock on it. Nothing happens.

Why are managers so useless? Why do they have no regard for the security of their staff and the mail?

Cant they use a scanner to track it down. The card gives off an RFID signal which is why it expires but no idea at what range it can be detected.
