Keeping vans at home

yeah we keep ours at home must fill in a form saying you will not use it out side of work only to and from and have to agree to have were it wiil be kept checked by the union only good thing royal mail have agreed to lately

Is it because you don't have much room at your yard?
Mine is more child care related

There is no tax issue but there is a lot of paperwork and rules to follow .
You will not be allowed overnight retention purely because of childcare issues.

1. DOM’s may only authorise vehicles and powered equipment to be retained overnight by employees in situations where there is insufficient space on site for all Royal Mail vehicles and equipment at the Delivery Office.

Ever since van share came in I now take a van home, because the yard is chokablok plus I now pick up a colleague to take in on a morning (not travelling out of my way into work) so am considered to be conveying staff in as well, But have to keep the paperwork in order as previously mentioned bout where parked overnight, no personal useage etc etc

Personally the last thing i want to do when i wake up in the morning is look out the window and see a RM van outside my house.

Well it's not for transporting kids, it's more the kids need picking up from school,and my house is more or less on the way back from my Deilvery so if I leave my car at home I can quickly do a swap to pick them up and then go to work to drop off any stuff. But at the moment it's a bit of a mad rush by the Time I get to sorting office to then go and pick them up.

Yes I have the same problem picking up the shopping from Tesco
