How are new delivery walks calculated i.e the number of packets/recorded/special del/tracked on a round which you have to knock with ? If the planner says it is so many per 500 calls and you can prove otherwise how is this inputted into the plan

Before the new walks are planned you should count the number of attendance calls per road everyday for a week. The planners should then use this data in planning the new walks.

done that yet the planner is working off the model week and not individual walk counts. try explaining that you cannot equally divide the packet count between 25 walks some walks get more packets than others.

We had a count over a week but the results were too high so they just used the national standard.

I might be wrong, ours was worked out on an average of 16 calls in 500 and out of that 16 only 4 should a P739 . Over a long period it might average out at this rate but we go way beyond that call rate at least 3 days a week. I'm suprised managers struggle to comprehend why we can only do the lapsing 2-3 times a week at most, but there you go . Also don't forget to add your "Do Not Bend" items into the count.

We P739 about 30 items on average.

Ask to get full packet count on current walks that will be HCT after the revision, not just attendence calls...

HCT (if doing abiding by protocol and H&S) duty holders will have everything in the trolley with no pouch on their shoulder, so time is needed to find keys; unlock trolley; find packet; lock trolley; check it is locked for every parcel.

We did packet counts for two weeks on every duty.Our attendance call rates came out at 8-15%. Quite a few of our duties are single van duties which already take all their own packets,so It was fairly easy to get an Idea of what sort of attendance call rates you're going to get on the new shared van duties.
When you input this data it will allocate extra time for this in Geo route.Ask your planner to show you this.One duty I was covering was showing a geo route estimate of 3h 52 mins and when the packet counts were input It showed an extra 51 minutes being allocated.Still not enough,in my opinion,but that's another argument.

Planners just count facts and figures and not the grime reality that we are always fighting time, geo-route is a joke

We averaged roughly 68 per duty, that was to high for them and didn't fit in with their plan on georoute so next thing we know is they averaged in 34 for one duty and 29 for the next, then tried telling us this is the count we gave them >_< me and my p&l partner protested about this told them the duty wouldn't work etc and guess what ...yeah the usual nothing the new route still went ahead now they ask us why we cut off everyday or book over time.

planners ignore actual packets monitored during a 4 week period and use the national standard as it fits their agenda, good news is that packets need to be completed on overtime and so those who want overtime earning quite nicely ta very much.
