It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Go to there website ? Basically you get a substuite cigarette and just use it as a normal cig. You get the nicontine kick ( which is a drug ) but without the tar and monoxide , Better than patches . £2 = 20 cigs instead of £7 .for the same effect .

No member of staff should be allowed to use one of these items in any place where they cannot smoke a cigarette.

Unfortunately that's only an opinion, there is no actual policy in place which is hardly surprising since they are pretty new on the scene.
Until there is it will probably be down to individual managers but since they are sold as a smoking cessation aid then sending people who are trying to quit out into the temptation of a designated smoking area might be seen as less than sympathetic.

Believe or not a friend of mine was dismissed recently for using one of these aids in a non-designated smoking area, he's going to an ET to try and get some common sense out of the whole thing.

Dismissed on what grounds?

What was the reason for his dismissal?
