So what's generally acceptable, the time it should take to tie down a walk, I remember under two deliveries, on a 2hr 30mins delivery span we were given 30mins, low and behold we have now moved to 4.15, it is still 30mins, what is acceptable?????

It takes as long as it takes, usually depends on the days traffic.

We are told to work fast, no talking , no laughing, no wandering off to look for a laggy band, just graft so yes it can be done in 30 minutes. What will be next? no trumping or sneezing as it wastes 3 seconds.
The BIGGEST farce though after 120 minutes working like this , you stand outside the locker for half an hour !!!

30 mins is all well and good if it is all thrown out when you get there and not left in several piles in the fitting along with the misorts and the kill offs.

i am a sorting machine....tied up and bagged in under 15 mins....out the dooor then off to deliver and do extra just because i love the job!!

It only takes me about twenty minutes, personally, but I guess it's up to the individual. The idea that there should be a set time in which the process can and should be achieved is nonsense. People are different, and are on different walks. There are double slots and single slots (and doubled up single slots!) - the latter, on a busy day, adds ten minutes to the process easily. I know there are guys in our office who empty one slot at a time, as if it's a delicate art-form, a ritual that must be observed with the utmost care, and with all respect for etiquette. I'm a grabber - it all comes out in one sudden, darting motion. Maybe that's a metaphor for me as a lover. Probably not, though.

Tie up, tie down, use handcuffs it's all the same thing, something that someone has put a figure on and expects everybody to adhere to those exact figures..........no matter what

We call it 'pulling out'. A few of the older guys call it 'tying up'. People work at different speeds, I go nice and steady on all aspects of the job as the faster you go, the more they expect.

quite right you save a few seconds by rushing
but a cock up can cost you .

in our office many drop boxes are singles ,when we really need more doubles.
on a heavy day
i change the order of my tie up, to make best use of the doubles (never where you need them)
depending on which streets have the most packets
just to make it work. and saves needing second drops!
point is... i take extra care when improvising a tie up.
