REFUELLING AND CLEANING OF VANS

The planners believe that the refuelling and cleaning of vans doesn't require any additional time, so they don't plan for any within the duty builder. Although today the planners have stated that CWU HQ have agreed that the time for this is already in the vaules used within the tools.
Just wonder if this has become a problem when the revision was deployed and what solutions did you put in place.

You just do it when it needs done (the fueling anyway, the cleaning just isin't done anymore) if you need to book OT then do it.

The allowance for daily duty level check is 9 minutes...for the weekly check it's 14 minutes.
There is no time allowed for either washing or refuelling vans.
In the past it was accepted that this would be done on a tuesday when time allowed but since the introduction of park&loop and the escalation of lapsing this is no longer possible.

I have washed my van..........once in the past 2 years but it still got washed

We were arguing this point today with our manager. RM cancelled the contract with the company that jet washes the vans years ago so they just look really bad and embarrassing when a nice clean Fed-Ex or any other delivery van pulls up beside you

We're not encouraged to clean the vans or carry out daily or duty checks on our vans for the obvious reason we can absorb more walks with the time we save, but when somebody complains they're not going out in the van cause they are disgusting inside, the DOM tells us its built into our duty and we should be checking and cleaning them without him having to tell us. So i asked him how he's getting on with his weekly checks and he just looked at me and walked off

If you are stopped by the police and they find a defect with the van it is you who will pay the fine and possibly get points on your licence not Royal Mail.

A fine could also apply with faults found on cycles.


So do your daily checks.

if it's out like our place, then it will be the same people filling them up and changing tyres, the others think that the van refuels itself and that when they have bald tyres they are miraculously replaced by the tyre fairies when they have a day off

I like to know whats going to happen in a few years time when all the vans start getting faults through lack of maintainance as we have no spare vans at our office.
Or are RM hoping we will be privatised by then.
Also goes for the PDA's that already dont hold their charge for a 5 hour round or start to get defects

In a few years lol... all our vans and PDA are already knackered. Our newest van is 4 years old and the rest are all 5-8 years old.

In a few years lol... all our vans and PDA are already knackered. Our newest van is 4 years old and the rest are all 5-8 years old.

I was referring to our new P/l combi vans for pairs that we had last year , every one turned up the same day when P/L started at our office so MOT's are going to be same time plus they will start to need maintaining the same time as well

like today my transit looks brand new even tho its on a 56 plate,think last time i washed it was about 6 years ago,sayin that i did get a duster out other day inside and got rid off me maccy bags and pastie wrappers
