Bad feet

Anybody suffer with chronic pain/aching/tired or bad feet.

Coming up to 23 years service and I'm finding that the discomfort I'm getting nowadays is getting beyond a joke.

The problem I have is in both arches of my feet. After standing and walking for about an hour I get a throbbing sensation/ache in both arches. It was a lot worse when I was on a walk.

I made a conscious decision about 6 years ago to stop walking and do a driving job instead. Within a few weeks of going on the driving my feet seemed to be ok again.

Just lately though the discomfort has returned.

I've been to see a specialist who said that I have tight hamstrings and I need to stretch both muscles every morning. She also gave me some arch supports for my shoes. This hasn't really aleaveated the problem at all.

What is also concerning me is this van share none sense is about to start in the next couple of months. The thought of being bumped off my driving duty and back on a walk is making Me tHink that I need to try and get this sorted out, pronto!

Anyone had similar symptoms to mine and can advise me?

I think you need to go back and see specialist mate if first treatment is not working there is maybe another?

Personally i find hot baths sooth my aches and pains.

I work indoors but last 5 weeks been sent out on walks and my feet have been throbbing.My partner says i should use arch supports.When i go back on my job despite walking plenty i dont get the problem.maybe its related to walking and carrying weight?

I had/have the same problem. Get some good arch supports, sports direct do some good ones at a reasonable price. Another very good tip is keep a frozen water bottle at home and each day after work roll your arches of each foot over it for a few minutes each day, this really helps trust me. HTH

It is one of the most painful conditions you can have,nothing worse than your feet hurting,the throbbing gets on your pip,the podiatrist said i had to wear heel guards with an arch support i have found that SCHOLE shoes do Gel Inserts for your foot wear and it does help but there are some exercises that she gave me also which has helped.Do not leave it go back to your Doctors and get some advice to help you out.

Seems as though you have Metatarsalgia its also know as Morton’s Nueroma where bad footwear or climbing stairs quite often plays a big part in it also been on your feet most of the day, go see your Dr he may send you for a scan on your foot to identify the problem if it is Morton’s Neuroma he may send you for a cortisone injection after that its surgery, personally I would ask your line manager about a trip to a podiatrist Royal Mail managers have the authority to send you and pay for it, the podiatrist will fit you with orthotic inners in your shoes that may help. Put some packing under the bridge of your foot for a day or two to take the pressure off the ball of the foot this is how you will find out if its Metatarsalgia . Good luck with it and let us know how you go one. BTW its starts in Men after 40 yrs old don’t know how old you are?

It's PF alright, with this job the maximum walking span per day has to be 3 hours max. One day rm will listen to this and make all duties 3 hours max or pay £££££'s in comp. With this new way of working , health complaints have gone through the roof so it has certainly backfired on them.

sounds like i have started to get Morton’s Nueroma,i am 38 and previous comment said starts in 40's! had the pain for a year or less and mostly in left foot

The problem first started when 2nd deliveries were binned and walks went from 2 and a half hours to 3 and a half.

I've been told that running both feet over a tennis ball helps and the frozen water bottle seems like a good idea so I'll definitely try that.

I'm 40 this year but the problem first arose around seven or eight years ago.

Been to see the DOM about getting my problem sorted but he ain't interested It seems any outside help that he has to fund comes out of his precious budget...w****r!!!

I'll have to go back to the docs and wait until a referral comes through again before I can get this sorted.

My foot specialist today said (when i told him i worked for rm) that he can't believe how many rm workers are coming through the hospitals and having foot x-rays and scans.
Either it's the sloppy no good cat trainers or the using of trollies , but somethings going to flare up soon in the way of claims etc. They can't get away with ruining our health while the managers are getting fatter and lazier.
