later saturdays

we have been told that our saturday finish time currently 13-40 is going to be 14-40 soon.
although i am not a football fan a few are and are really unhappy,apart from that how many of the top guys from the union work on a saturday.
i'm sure there are more members like me are so pissed of i am considening coming out the union after 30 years plus.

Your not alone.several in our office have left the union.Our rep works Monday to Friday.Keep being told RM is a family friendly firm.I think not.I am really thinking of leaving after 27 years.Not the job i signed up for.

we have been here many times with this saturday working,it was ok years ago when we could get finished early enough to still have time to do family things,but not anymore.truth is the union have no desire to get rid of saturday working as they dont have to work it and they say it will cost jobs,as if enough jobs havent been lost already.

Have had rumours that we will not finish on Sats until 4.45pm I took the job on to finish at 1pm No one will be in to recieve the post(having time with their families), but then all the managers will not worry.

Because the CUSTOMERS are the ones that send the mail, and most of these are businesses who want it delivered on Saturday when everyone's at home and opens it straight away. Those you deliver too are NOT your CUSTOMERS.

both of you have a point. i remember finishing early on a sat, 9am finish but that was when it was a good job. now sat is another day in the week so could well be looking at 4pm or later finish on a sat. the union and management have stiched us up and theres 2 choices. like it or leave. some choice when you got a family or a hobbie

Saturday as a rest day for everyone would be nice but spare a thought for the police, the burger van owners and even the footballers parted from family on a Saturday not to mention the growing number whose religion stipulaes that Friday or Saturday, not Sunday, should be the day or rest.

Teams can play on Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday, Thursday and Friday not just on Saturday?

I got to say i miss he early finish that we use to get but the world is different now like i can remember when you could not shop on a Sunday . there are people out there that have to work the hole weekend for less money then we get its just the way the job market is now.
