Need more details...and i'm not sure what you mean by 2 weeks notice.

Need a bit more information. However never heard of 2 weeks notice been given.

My guess is that they have done you for "refusing a reasonable request" rather than specifically not doing absorption/lapsing.

Your chances depend a lot on how you responded when asked, and if you finished early or late.

The only info i have is that all staff were told they would be given two weeks prior notice before given absorbtion.Does anyone know of any colleagues being sacked and then being reinstated?

How can you plan for absorbing 2 weeks in advance, best case is arranging it for when you think it'll be light (on a Tuesday) and then panicking when people can't do it.

That's an office resourcing forecast.
It can hardly have a bearing on an individual member and would certainly have nothing to do with a dismissal.
To be honest i'm at a loss what to make of this thread.
My best advice would be to seek guidance from the local rep.
At least he/she might know more about the local situation.

I think Jessica's answer was a response to DGP's "how can you forecast lapsing 2 weeks in advance?" and not a response to the original poster's problem.

Obviously the 2 weeks thing may be a local agreement but if the original poster refused to lapse but finished early, I would think his chances of appealing his dismissal are slim. But there is so little information in the thread it is impossible to tell.

They can't even predict 1 day in advance let alone 2 weeks, I know that there's a bulk mailing coming soon to my office but it could be anytime from now until 14th of the month, just depends on when the mail is sent out (not like in the old days when the mail was really predictable..............before the DSA started).
