what has to be a worry is the bit about the mail declining,she then goes on about more savings on the back of this.
what should happen is she should get herself down to one of the delivery offices and get herself out on a delivery for a week and see where she could saves

Mailman, her type are not interested whether people are stretched to breaking point. She has one aim and that is to reduce costs in order to receive huge bonuses at year end. Does she have to show any initiative to receive this bonus. No. She slashes staffing levels which is the main costs incurred in running most organisations and expects the slack to be picked up by those poor sods left to deal with the extra work left from those removed from the company. This is no new strategy. It has been going on since Margaret Thatchers days, and yet we have a government prepared to pay someone in excess of 1 million pound per annum, to come up with a cost reduction programme, that even the most inept of managers could have come up with. Her time with Royal Mail will be short lived. She will walk away with another big handout from the UK taxpayers, and she will be replaced by someone else who will come up with exactly the same strategy, and the wheels will turn round again.

your spot on but there comes a time when people say enough is enough and all the dopes that come in early to get finished early will eventually see the light maybe not in the 3 years i have left in the job but in time they will.

Moya's policies are aimed purely and simply at making Royal Mail appear as profitable as possible as quickly as possible so that it is attractive for prospective buyers. Removing staff hours (OPG/ML/MS/LA/SB) is one of the simplest way of doing this without the need to increase sales and generate revenue with new products. The other way is to increase prices which the inflation busting rises earlier this year have done.

All of these measures are not designed to benefit either the customer or the employee. The customer faces rising costs with a 'service' which cannot provide quality as delivery revisions fail. The employees are subjected to unrealistic workload targets and remuneration that is eroded by cuts in overtime and the fact that profit is not shared that far down the food chain.

The whole approach does not bode well for the future as operations will continue to be denied proper managerial guidance and planning and any future owner will just see the business as a cash cow to be run as cheaply as is possible whilst charging the customer the highest price that they can without losing too much market share. On top of all this, those wishing to jump in the escape capsule will find that VR packages are no longer as lucrative in a privatised RM.
