I think i'm in trouble.......

Post by tommythreesheds »

Hi. I think i have got myself in trouble, and i really don't know what to do. Can someone please offer any advice, good or bad?

To cut a long story short, my partner and i broke up last year. She ended up with someone else, and i had to move on. Just over two weeks ago, i had found out that they had split many weeks/months ago, and she wanted us back together again. I was due annual leave, so left it until i got back two weeks later, but since back, we have given our relationship another go. 3 days back into work, her ex basically lightly threatened me whilst i was delivering his post...... Basically harassment. I responded in a quiet manner, even though i was getting very bad grief from him. I walked away with the usual name calling aimed in my direction. This was on a wed. The next couple of days, my partner had been receiving some very malicious texts and calls from him. It got my back up. On fri, i finished about 3, was late getting my son from college, so rushed to get him whilst still having my uniform on. When back about 5, i saw him, saw red, and unleashed a bit of a swear word frenzie. It was over in seconds.

The problem i have is that as i live just about next door to the PO, he wants to go in tomorrow morning and complain. I realise i should not have had my uniform on, and should have known better, but if people upset someone i care about, i just see red. I am truly worried about losing my job. I have been a postie for over 6 years, and never been in trouble, but i just feel after rushing around and not changing, this has not helped. I will contact my boss in the morning and be totally honest with him. I have no reason to lie, but will i suffer any implications because of this........sorry to go on. I feel like ringing Jeremy Kyle!

Although still in company uniform, you were outside of work hours.
Given the provocation, you should be able to argue that you were not representing RM in any way and were acting as an individual.
Unless your relations with your manager are at a low, I can't imagine you getting anything other than a conduct warning at worst.

Have a word with your union rep as soon as you get in to work tomorrow.
Good luck.

Depends a lot on your Dom basically & if any any other witnesses to it
If your Dom is reasonable & doesn't have any axe to grind with you
You should be allright with circumstances taken into account.

Or......... If a complaint is made against you deny it! "Nothing to do with me guv,I wasn't even there" etc
How do they know you were in uniform or not? Just say he is making it all up,Plead ignorance.

Thank you guys. I have a very good relationship with my DOM, and as i said, i think honesty will be the best bet. No criminal record, no offences, no trouble in over six years....I hope that is taken into account. Never knew i had a temper lol... Thank you again.

Do not start lying.
In any possible conduct case your personal integrity must not be called into question.
Yes I did wrong ( but these are my mitigating circumstances). Yes I am sorry. Yes it won't happen again.

Leave all that "it wasn't me guv, it was a big boy who ran off" to the kids in primary school.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

As has been said before, don't lie.

They probably won't dismiss you for this, they will if you are dishonest.

You shouldn't be delivering to him if it's going to cause problems. Good managers will try and move you of the walk, if possible.
