As R M pile the delivery pressure onto the posties.... Maybe time to get the Union the be usefull for once and get the ball rolling for better overtime rates....
After 40 hours slogging around in all weathers.... with extra package impacting on us all and delivery times ....
A new rate of time and a half on overtime needs to be a more realistic payment, to show some respect for job done and then staying out and going on with that extra effort.....
The extra bonuses and increased pay at the top of many companies today is not reflected in the pitance of money related to extra effort done in overtime rates at RM ....
NOW THAT WHERE PAYING YOUR SUBS TO THE UNION COMES IN.. ... NOW UNION TOP BRASS AND TUC YOU NOW HAVE A JOB TO DO SO LETS SEE SOME ACTION...AND EARN YOUR MONEY...TIME AND A HALF...FOR OVERTIME.

I agree with you but there is no doubt that having such a low rate of overtime encourages RM to use overtime as a permanent resourcing model rather than investing in real jobs....so you could say that increasing the cost of using overtime could actually help achieve both objectives.motherhubbard wrote:Jobs.....not overtime.
Another plus point could be that the majority of overtime would probably then be directed towards less than full-time employees who wouldn't qualify for time and a half until they had worked full-time hours and would therefore be a cheaper option.
On the down side it could lead to a greater use of casual staff,especially from internal sources like Angard.

Why worry by 2020 we will be on minimum wage and working for UPS or the like. By 2020 I'll be long gone via the IHR route or I would've punched a manager and been given the sack

Wasn't the CWU line a few years ago, a higher basic wage rather than a reliance on overtime? Tbh I don't think we can have it both ways.

but the ot rate is next to nothing and if your going that extra mile or 5 then you should be rewarded even time and a quarter would be good.
