Can you still go on holiday if on sick leave?

I'm currently on sick leave and have A/L due shortly.

What I was wondering is,am I allowed to go on holiday whilst on sick?

yes just give them your mobile number so they can keep in contact with you

i always understood that you needed a letter from your doctor stating that it would help your recovery to go on holiday while on the sick.

Had lovely holiday abroad when i broke my arm...it hurt just as much as if i stayed at home.... but it took my mind of it at times... convalescence they call it.......and the drink...

Yes you can P_ostman its classed as rehab unless you are on the sick with a bad back and you get caught carrying heavy suitcases or saying that you can hardly walk because of a leg injury then you are in Turkey for instance playing tennis or something like that they will have you for fraud and sacked, just be careful what holiday photos you put on facebook etc or over the internet there is always one person that will bubble you.

Got a broken toe. Been told i have to declare myself fit if i want to take my holiday. If i still cant walk on delivery whern i come back. It will be two abscences and hello stage 2. What a wonderfull caring company we all work for.

Thanks for the replies.

Was in contact with a LM at work about it,he stated that I needed to provide a letter from my GP stating that I was fit to travel.
Phoned the union for clarification,and was told that I had to sign myself off sick so I could go on my holiday.

Who is right,I'm bloody confused now!
All I want to do is cover my back so they don't spring any nasty surprises on me when I return!
