Can anyone explain this to me as I think I'm being screwed by my dom. Basically I'm on 24 hour contract but work 5weeks on and have the 6th week off paid. In order to have the 6th week off paid I work over my 24 hours during the 5weeks to accumulate the hours. That part I understand, I believe its called Hereford system?
What I don't understand is I work 07.30 - 1 everyday, 6 days a week.
That equates to 33hours a week.
I get paid 24hours per week and I'm told the other hours go towards my paid week off buuuut
33-24=9
9 x the 5weeks = 45
Yet I only need to accumalate 24 hours for the 6th week I get off paid. So where do the other 21 hours go?
My domain insists this is correct.

similar to what we do but ours are one of in four and we work it out like this 39 x 4 weeks then divide by 3 ( the hours we have to work to get the fourth week off)
ie 39 x 4 = 156 divided by 3 = 52 hours per week
so yours should be 24 x 6 divided by 5 = 28.8 hours per week
so I would say you are doing too much
33 x 5 = 165
24 x 6 = 144
have you got your rep involved? I would ask for a breakdown of how your dom arrived at these hours

On 24 hr contract you should be doing an average of 4:48 per day whether than is 5 days per week with one day off or 6 days per week with one week off in six. You are doing 5:30 per day so yes you are being screwed

Breaks have nothing to do with it surely? They are part of his hrs.
