Got a question for a CWU Rep? And all CWU related matters.

Voting for a new rep

In my office soon if I put myself forward for the union reps postion against the current rep, how does the Ballot work? Do members get ballot papers in post?

Not a rep so I might have some of it wrong but yes if there is a contest at election time then members covered by that position should get balloted by post.

However, first steps first. You need to nominate yourself and you need a seconder. Its also a good idea to come up with a short manifesto which will be sent out with the voting papers.

Thanks thought it would be that but wasn't sure, I don't think the current rep will be very happy with me. But he doesn't talk to people much and I like to think I'm one of the likeable ppl at my office, although that could change when I'm the rep lol

You might be surprised at the rep's reaction...he may be overjoyed.
You won't be surprised at the member's reaction...you won't stay likeable for long.

Has your Rep got a Sub? If not it may be worth applying for that job until you have 'learnt the ropes'. You can still go through all the CWU courses being a sub rep.

He's hasn't got a sub but hes really crap as a rep and defo just in it for himself
