Can you send specials out in your delivery bags...

Or are you supposed to keep them on your good-self(however impractical)..reason i ask is quite often i can get 20 to 30 specials sometimes so just wondering if i can send them out in an appropriate delivery pouch to their usual destinations.. (shop/cafes/etc)..which i guess by definition would secure as RM have have given the green light to drop bags of mail off at these places...also is there a limit on how many specials a postie can take...like i have said..20 to 30 specials is quite common for some posties to take in our office..

i thought it was 8 or nine limit but if your on a town centre then as many as they give you'but if your on residential thats a hell of alot

To be honest i work in town most of the time(but like most towns nowadays student apartments are being built all the time)..depending on what duty i am on..the most i have took out is 34 specials (now these include small packets/letters)..sometimes you can match them up with overweights and give them your driver..(sign them off to him/her first)..but on some duties i have been on drivers are reluctant to leave their vans for too long (vans have been broken into before and stuff stolen)...so it's down to the poor old posties to somehow push and squeeze them all into an already bulging delivery bag(and run the risk of dropping an item)..i think someone once told me that 10 is the limit for a posties to take..would like to know for sure though..because quite often if i do lapsing..there will usually be around 8 to 15 specials also as well as my own on whatever duty i know..stress levels are huge as you are constantly looking at the clock/watch..and if i ask my line manager to help his words are usually ''you'll be alright''..

Are we talking Special Deliveries or Recorded Signed For's?
Big, big difference. If you are on foot and working solo then 8 SDs is the limit! Any more MUST go with a driver. You are able to take as many RSFs as you can carry!

the max is 8 any more and your walk needs to be risk assessed

Can the CWU confirm that 8 specials is the limit for a postie to deliver?
Have the CWU got a file/document i can download to confirm this?
Yes i am talking about specials..recorded signed for..i have lots of them everyday,but these don't give me the same level of stress and worry as specials..

this is something to bear in mind with bag sizes.
you need to key in what SD's you ca fit and carry all the way round, considering you may not get rid of them during delivery

The problem with the LTL document is that it's a CWU document and some managers are ignoring it as it's not an official RM one.

My opinion is that all Specials should go out in a van...........of course when P&L comes in then they will.
