Am I right in thinking I can have time off paid (under special leave A) for my wedding. I heard its based on your holiday entitlement. I currently have just over 4 weeks as I have been working for the Royal Mail for 3 1/2 years.

3 to 5 days paid leave depending on annual leave entitlement:
• 3 days if leave entitlement is 6 weeks.
• 4 days if leave entitlement is 5 weeks 3 days.
• 5 days if leave entitlement is 5 weeks.

Entitled is a strong word.
Some unpaid leave is a legal entitlement.
All paid special leave is discretionary.
Don't go in talking about entitlements...your manager may just find a sound business reason to refuse especially if the notice is short.
Rules are rules...guidance is another thing altogether.

It's a well known fallacy that married men live longer, they don't really of course - it just seems longer. I know it's true because I've been married 40 years and it seems like 90 - could Alcatraz have been worse I sometimes wonder.
