Is it worth reporting(Dog Issue)

3yrs ago I was bitten by a dog that had come out of its garden(because the owner had left the garden gate open that it is usually locked behind), run down the pavement towards me about 2 houses away and took a chunk out of my leg.
Police informed owners taken to court but police never turnded up for the prosecution so the costs were awarded to the owners

Today I was cycling past the house as I had already delivered to the premises and the rest of the road (Cul De Sac) and was cycling out of the road to which I had to pass the house, as I passed the house the dog came running after me as the owner yet again had left the gate open, this dog was barking/growling and tried to bite my leg but caught my pannier which made my bike wobble but lucky enough not for me to fall off it, It shook me up but I carried on with delivery.

1. should I inform the police as they did say if it happeded again they would consider putting the dog down , but no witness apart from a family member who was with the owner.

2. report it to manager as I do have a dog log of the premises on my frame.

3. would it be classed as an incident rather then accident.

Remember an incident years ago when a dog chased me whilst on a bike.
Had to swerve onto the otherside of the road just near the top of a hill.

Couldn't see what was heading my way from the opposite side....luckily nothing did otherwise i was toast

It is a NEAR MISS, all you need to do is complete the very short near miss log.

Your H&S Rep or Manager should then contact the Dog Warden/Police on RM's behalf in order for them to address the matter.

Thankyou Himaggen I will do that in the morning, not sure dom will talk to the police as they refused to do it last year when I was bit by another dog, but I will ask them politley to do it .

The only problem with reporting these sorts of things is we automatically get blamed and end up with a warning.

Report it. I got bitten a few months ago, yet the police did nothing. If the 2 posties who had been bitten before had reported it it would now been put down. Instead they are now waiting for it to bite someone else before any action is taken.

get the police involved and get the owners locked up and prosecuted for keeping a dangerous animal. I'm sure if someone came at you with a knife you would report it, pretty much the same thing but with 20 small knives.

Unless it involves loss of life or limb the police are unlikely to be interested.
Waste of time a few years ago going to them after being attacked walking along a pavement even though I had all the details of a motorist that had witnessed it and stopped to assist me.

:Yes, sadly they seem to do nothing, but if you DON'T report it, and it does go on to attack someone seriously, the fact you didn't bother to report it, could come back and bite you!
