If it's IHR with lump sum it's 34 weeks pay plus 12 weeks PILON plus any outstanding annual leave.markis wrote:I've put myself forward for ill health retirement, as I 'm no longer up to doing the job,but what I wat to know is what will be the offer ? Is the 34 weeks and 1 week for every year, plus any outsanding leave the minimum which will be offered ? Or can they offer more, what I'm trying to say is that it was doing the deliveries which caused the condition, and has put me in the situation to take IHR.

No, you can put yourself forward for IHR if you feel you are no longer up to the job and have doctors, physios, consultants, podiatrists, etc, who can confirm this. The final decision lies with a RM doctor.

If the cause of my condition has no bearing on IHR, can I make a claim against RM for causing it ?

Only a lawyer could advise you on that but it would be difficult unless you could show negligence and any claim for injury would be time barred at 3 years....it could also be expensive.markis wrote:If the cause of my condition has no bearing on IHR, can I make a claim against RM for causing it ?

Good points, plus I suppose RM would get the best legal team to stop all posties putting in claims for compensation.

Had a over the phone assessment today and at the end was told that it's too early to consider IHR and that IHR is not a option at the moment.
