Have asked my DOM to put me forward for ill health retirement as I feel I'm no longer up to the job,and getting Mega stressed, I'm presently on the sick, my DOM has agreed and has started the process. Been in the job over 12 years and feel it's in my blood, I have one or two ideas about retraining and areas I seek to work in, even starting up my own buisness, but I still feel anxious about future, especially in the present economic climate.

Working for yourself would be good as you can work when you like and have time off when you like and be no restriction as long you keep earning. It is ideal as long you don't have debts or too many bills or expenses.

I have a foot condition and the pain it causes on delivery is stressing me out, it also is affecting my social life, as I have to rest it. It is managable in the short term but because I'm walking four and half plus hours a day, is what's causing the problem, which in turn is giving me stress.I should point out I've put up with this for nearly 3 years

What pisses me off is that it was working for RM over the past decade that caused the problems !

Now lets face it, anyone with a decent contract in RM is now a target, leave on your own, be harassed every day & be shown the door or put up with the daily aches & pains grinding you down.
Look after yourself and not RM's profits, we are all expendable and easily replaced

Thanks mate. It was pointed out to me a few weeks ago at work when I spoke to someone about how I was feeling and my condition that I should make a appointment to see a Doc straight away, "your health comes first, and this building will be here long after your gone". No job is worth your health, and I suppose I am anxious, but it's not the end of the world, when I started with RM it was because no one wanted to do the job, get up that early and only have a sunday off !

And he also said he's had the foot pain for three years now, so if/when he takes the advice and works for himself, finds he can't work and has no money coming in, he'll be somehow better off then, will he?

I have been quoted less than that as I'm on a 30 hr contract.
