PARK AND LOOP CORRECT PROCEDURE
what is the correct methods to be used re p&l
going through revisions west of scotland and have been told by planners
1 drivers will have smaller loops than walking man due to packets , tracked etc
2 walking man 4hr 15 min delivery span ,using trolly lw ,but also still using pouch boxes , driver puts bags in boxes , walking man basically still same only using trolly which will take longer over longer spans and taking rec ,spec, packets that fit in trolly .
should we still be using boxes via p&l as it leaves walking man on their own until driver finishes
i think this is a rm scotland idea to save cash
what are national guidlines for p&l as per national agreement
our walking men feel raw deal for them due to increased d2d etc

The kind of packets that delivery methods allows you to take makes using a pouch box ridiculous.
It's called park&loop for a reason.
Contact your branch and put a stop to this bollocks,if they ignore you take it further.
Get them to explain how a walker, dumped for 4hrs15min with a trolley is supposed to go for a piss.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Re: PARK AND LOOP CORRECT PROCEDURE
You are being conned. Park and Loop is designed for a two man team working in a small area with loops, I believe, now extended to 40 minutes each as opposed to the original 20 minutes. Drop boxes should not be used and bag weights should not exceed 8 kilos, each member of the team has a key for the van.hans solo wrote:what is the correct methods to be used re p&l

You work as a team, doing two duties normally in 6 loops meeting up at the van then moving on.

Re: PARK AND LOOP CORRECT PROCEDURE
As i said before the planners just have NOT taken into consideration time for recordeds, packets, D2Ds and Specials most walks in our office are taking about 5 hours the planners have just based walks on people not stopping which is impossible in park and loop (the most stupid way of working EVER) because you never meet at the van at the same time so that costs time too. As for Fishtank talking about taking a piss where the hells the time to take a piss lol.Not all walks have 6 loops each im on one with 10 loops and another with 9 this whole things a mess there has to be a better way THERE IS A BETTER WAY.

Re: PARK AND LOOP CORRECT PROCEDURE
Some of the walks in my office have been designed for LWT and the boxes being used whilst the driver goes away and does his walk, packets, specials tracked etc. The loops don't work no time built in for packets and writing out p739s. The walk I'm on has 5 loops on the 1st walk and 11 on the 2nd walk, whats that all about, I'm based in an office in the West Of Scotland outside Glasgow and the managers don't have a clue. Has park and loop went live anywhere in London or any of the other Major cities in the UK.

In London it is slightly different, they have a taxi scoot them round their delivery so they can get finished earlycinemasaint wrote:Some of the walks in my office have been designed for LWT and the boxes being used whilst the driver goes away and does his walk, packets, specials tracked etc. The loops don't work no time built in for packets and writing out p739s. Re: PARK AND LOOP CORRECT PROCEDURE
Is that a def on 8 kilo max bags? I thought it was no bags on backs over 3.30hrs except for tenements where small 5kg max bags are used as in my revision(although in practice the 5kg max is ignored-ill never get finished -they say)Also its been agreed that we can carry 11kg in skyscrapers/high rises....why is there not a chart for this sort of thing on the CWU outdoor departments web page? seems some of the bag weights are decided through chinese whispers and there are different interpretations in different areas.....dvbuk55 wrote:

By the same token, if you are being told there is an agreement on 11kg bags for high rise flats/skyscrapers then the planner/DOM should be able to show you documentation supporting that.Danelectro wrote:

Otherwise some people might think they just make it up as they go along.
p16 BT 2010 - Safety is our number one priority. There is nothing more important than keeping our employees safe......
It would seem safety trumps budget........

Area rep says the 11kg/skyscraper weight agreed...therefore no other avenues to pursue on the matter apart from report it on here....clashcityrocker wrote: By the same token, if you are being told there is an agreement on 11kg bags for high rise flats/skyscrapers then the planner/DOM should be able to show you documentation supporting that.

My office has gone 'live', we voted it out twice as the walks were to big. They have FORCED it in.
We are in London.
No union rep.
Walks are failing on the heavy days. (Cut offs, and people booking it to clear)
No toilet provisions have been written into the walk logs.
And yes, some people DO NOT use the trolley. (It slows you down like anything)
Morale is low - And people are starting to question being in the Union as you are untouchable if you are working your time and you're not fart-arsing about.

Re: PARK AND LOOP CORRECT PROCEDURE
Then your Area Rep should be able to show you where that is agreed - or explain why s/he agreed it.Danelectro wrote:Area rep says the 11kg/skyscraper weight agreed...therefore no other avenues to pursue on the matter apart from report it on here....clashcityrocker wrote: By the same token, if you are being told there is an agreement on 11kg bags for high rise flats/skyscrapers then the planner/DOM should be able to show you documentation supporting that.
Area Reps often have a different agenda to a unit rep. That's normal because they have a bigger picture to look at.They also seem to play a lot more politics than at unit level.
I love Area Reps .......( but I wouldn't eat a whole one.)
