Hi All,
Does anybody know if you can have leave without pay after you have had all your allocated leave entitlement and how you would go about arranging this.The reason being a family wedding in Australia which I have just found out about and I have taken all my leave for the current year.Thanks in advance

3 to 5 days paid leave depending on annual leave entitlement:
3 days if leave entitlement is 6 weeks.
4 days if leave entitlement is 5 weeks 3 days.
5 days if leave entitlement is 5 weeks.

If you have children under 5, then you're entitled to 4 weeks unpaid leave per year per child.

It's 13 weeks' parental leave for each of your children up to their fifth birthday.
Or in the case of a child with a disability 18 weeks' parental leave until their 18th birthday.

..but if you have, say 2 children under 5, you could take 8 weeks per year unpaid up to our 13 week entitlement per child.

The vast majority of parental leave is left un-taken simply because the average worker cannot afford such luxuries...it's basically a perk of the middle classes.

You're right - most of us couldn't afford to take that much unpaid leave, but surely there must be some benefits available for people on low incomes who need parental leave??
