Staged Return to Work

Hi

I've been off for 6 weeks, signed off by the doctor, awaiting test results from hospital...wasn't safe for me to walk due to risk of fracture etc.

ATOS called me, and when I explained the nature of my problem, ATOS advised my boss I was not in any state to do any work at all. They also stated that I shouldn't return to work until test results were in and I'd spoken further with ATOS.

Test results were in last week, and there's no fracture risk for me, but I still have debilitating pain from my injury. I have an appointment with my consultant in 6 weeks to discuss treatment options etc. They think they know what the problem is, and it should be straightforward to treat and make a swift recovery.

As there's no fracture risk, I am, technically well enough to return to work, but there's no way I can do a 5 hour delivery. My GP says I can return on amended duties.

I went into work on Friday, and had been put on training on a new round, which I was supposed to take over from tomorrow. I wasn't happy about this, my bosses were not there (an acting manager was there), I spoke to the Union rep, and he advised that I should have a back to work plan.

I went home before having a back to work interview etc.


I want to return, but I want to return on amended duties until I have had my problem dealt with.

My DOM has told me that he wants me back on a full duty, or not at all.

I have decided I am not going to return until ATOS have contacted me and told my boss what I can and can't do. If I go back in without a plan, he'll put me on a full duty, and I could make my injury worse, or have to go sick again.

Any advice?

Go in tommorro, ask the stand in manager if he/she could put it in writting that he/SHE wants yoU to do a full walk contry to yr doctors and ATOS ADVICE?

yOUR RIGHT NOT TO DO THE WALK WITHOUT A PLAN, YOUR LINO IS JUST FOLLOWING ORDERS.

Exactly, Lino's are just over-glorified supervisors following orders from above. They manage absolutely nothing.
