Why dont the PO introduce the clock in clock out system,apart that it wouldnt suit them !!

Ive asked in teamtalks about this and the DO said the union wont allow them in ,my view is neither the po or the union want it in .Why , because if posties had to work till there time , then all the come in early , run around delivery posties just wouldnt do it and that wouldnt suit PO .

there isn't anything that would stop the idiots at ours coming in an early.
embarrassing for rm if a question arose about someones performance on an
unfamiliar round .....sorry i don't come in an hour early like the regular gonzales does.
check the timecards.

im thinking a clock would expose too many bad practices it would backfire on rm .

Just pointing out that deliveries are made by us staff who work for the Royal Mail not PO!

Some of us old timers never got out of the habit of calling it the Post Office.
That was the group name when i started.
It only changed to Royal Mail Holdings after the Consignia fiasco.

Clocking In/Out would increase overtime 10 fold for everyone, so as your manager would fight to reduce overtime now the clocking system would enforce overtime payments on a weekly basis.

The legal way to prove overtime is clocking.

problem it can be abused, say I finish at 2.40 and I pop in Tesco to buy some food and take 15 minutes then return to office at 3.10 and enforce 10 minutes overtime payment.

That can happen now.
The truth is clocking in machine or not management still have the right to question the overtime,i'm not sure what the other poster meant by "enforce".
A clocking in machine only proves that you clocked in and out then,nothing else and to be honest it doesn't even prove that.
Some of our members used to work for British Leyland in the '70s and in that place one guy used to stand and clock the whole nightshift in while the rest got one last pint in.

But if the clocking in/out system was introduced ,im sure Royal Mail would say anyone caught clocking in /out for anyone else could lead to instant dismissal ,would make you think twice about doing that i certainly wouldnt do it .But personally i dont think they will ever put it in WHY cause the posties will start doing there jobs properly .
