Visually Impaired People Signing For Recorded

Yesterday i had a recorded delivery for a blind man on the round im covering, luckily his daughter was there to sign for it, it got me thinking, what would the proper procedure be for them signing, or how would you approach it. I asked at work and the gaffer being a total tool, told me to take a pin and he could sign it in braille

I always sign it myself but put CNS blind for instance.

I had a customer with a disability ho could not hold a pen and I used to put CNS disabled on the docket / pda.

I asked this very question during my training and was told you are to 739 the item.
A relative or carer is then supposed to pick up the item for them.

Never heard anything so stupid in my life.
I have signed for items where the recipient couldn't and noted the reason for it.

Correct procedure is to sign for it your self and under recipiets name you write DNS which stands for Delivered No Signature the same applied for any person who is unable to sign for items due to any disability

shouldnt really do that due to equality act, person could feel uncomfortable/humiliated by trying to get them to do this and not feel confident enough to ask you, so best thing is in such circumstances is to ask person would you prefer you mark it as delivered, then sign yourself as its you who is confirming its being delievered and print name as DNS

We make sure we get a signature from whoever receives the item, but bear in mind that this may not be the person named on the address label. If there's nobody available to sign for the item and the item is not collected or redelivery rearranged within 18 calendar days, we return your mail free, with a note saying why we can't deliver it. On the rare occasions that we don’t get a signature for any other reason, we'll refund your money.

Looks like your probably better off just 739'ing the item. If the manager says it's ok to not get a signature, get that from that manager in writing (and signed) with a witness (probably the union rep) to cover your own ass.
